xxx"Prepare
Ye
xxxxxxxxxthe Way of the Lord"
The
prophet Isaiah told us about the earthly birth of Jesus Christ
when he said in the ninth chapter and the sixth verse of his
book, "Unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;
and the government will be upon His shoulder. And his name
will be called wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting
Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah was predicting the Advent
of the Son of God.
My belief
and prayer is that we will all have a renewed faith explosion
within our souls and that will carry us into the year of our
Lord 2012 with a vibrant and revitalized faith in Christ Jesus.
Faith, hope,
and love be with you,
Pastor Carl
Scripture
of the Month of December:
"That
if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe
in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will
be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are
justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and
are saved."
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-Romans 10:9-10
NIV

Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011
We celebrated Heritage
Sunday with Rev.
Dr. Scott Brooks Cope as our guest preacher.
Scott, a son of the congregation, was Student Assistant Pastor
at Dubbs from 1979-1981, and was ordained here in 1987. Scott
is the new Director of Pastoral Care at Phoebe
Ministries.
Scott reminded us that his family lived on Allen St. while he
attended church at Dubbs, and recalled Pastor Trexler and other
members of Dubbs who were influential in his life. After worship
the congregation got to catch up with Scott with food and refreshments
in the Friendship Room.
Note that there will be no Church School
and no Worship Service on Sunday, December. 25. Enjoy
Christmas Day with your family and friends.
Saturday,
Dec. 24, 2011, 7pm
This is our Christmas
Eve Candelight Service with Holy Communion.
Our worship service will also include scripture lessons, carols,
and a children's Birthday Party for Jesus. We celebrate Christ-the
"Light of the World" when we light our candles. We
continue our Birthday Party for Jesus in the Fellowship room
after church.
This has always been a beautiful worship experience, with the
singing of the choir, the candles, the realization that a Savior
Is Born! Please plan to attend,
invite a friend, all ARE welcome.
All of us at Dubbs UCC wish you and your family, a most joyus
Christmas and a Happy New Year!
